The Fifth Session of Lectures on Geological Survey by International Experts was Held
The session was organized by China Geological Survey (CGS) on June 5th. Two experts were invited to deliver lectures in this session: one is the researcher, Mr Kenneth J. Boyko, the former research branch chief of USGS; and the other was Mr Dong shuwen, the deputy director of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), and Treasurer with International Union of Geological Sciences.
Mr Kenneth introduced the development history of USGS has gone through and its main focus at present, and deliberated on the digital mapping revolution of USA and its important national geological programs. Mr Dong reviewed the major international deep probe programs worldwide, such as USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and Russia, etc., and emphasized Sinoprobe and the big progress China has made.
Such kind of activity has successfully promoted the cooperation between Kenneth-lead research team and CGS, as Institute of Geomechanics of CAGS will conduct discussion on the future cooperation after the lecture.
A total of over 90 representatives of more than ten units participated the lecture, including those from Ministry of Land and Resources and the subsidiary organizations.
