The 8th International Conference on Gas Hydrate (the 8th ICGH)
The International Conference on Gas Hydrates (ICGH) be held every three years in different countries around the world．It brings together a diverse group of scientists and engineers with a common interest in gas hydrates．The 1st ICGH was held in New Paltz，New York ( USA ) in 1993，the 2nd ICGH in Toulouse (France) in 1996，the 3rd ICGH in Salt Lake City (USA) in 1999， the 4th ICGH in Yokohama (Japan) in 2002，the 5th ICGH in Trondheim (Norway) in 2005， the 6th ICGH in Vancouver ( Canada ) in 2008，and the 7th ICGH in Edinburgh (UK) in 2011．Beijing ( China ) was selected as the host for the 8th ICGH which will be held at China National Convention Center，Beijing from July 28 to August 1，2014，hosted by China Geological Survey and Chinese Academy of Sciences．

With the theme Opportunity and Challenge-Development and Utilization of Gas Hydrates，the 8th ICGH is a very special event in that it encompasses all aspects of hydrate research，from Fundamental physical properties，Natural systems，Energy，Environment，Flow assurance to global climate change，the 8th ICGH caters to both academia and industry．It will demonstrate how gas hydrate knowledge and applications contribute directly to meeting societal and industrial needs through innovation in energy and safety-based industries．Gas hydrate research makes our have a better understanding on mitigation of climate change and geo-hazards．The scientific program remains open for comments and your valuable advice is most welcome．
