6th Training Course on Geological Mapping Capacity Building for ASEAN Member States Held
The 6th Training Course on Geological Mapping Capacity Building for ASEAN Member States was opened in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on Oct, 26. The event was sponsored by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Land and Resources, PRC, organized by Development Research Center of China Geological Survey, and co-organized by Institute of Geological Survey ,Guangxi, and Remote Sensing Center of Guangxi. Leaders from China Geological Survey and Guangxi Bureau of Exploration and Exploitation participated the meeting, together with 20 representatives from 8 ASEAN countries as Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and other countries ,including South Korea and China.
This is the 4th training course towards ASEAN member countries in geological survey field, and also the 6th training course since the establishment of the training regime in 2010. Up to now, we have trained over 60 technicians and experts from ASEAN member countries. The session this year consists of 10 days’ technical training and 2 days’ field work. It will focus on the training on the operation of CGS self –developed digitalized geological mapping system with independent intellectual property rights and dissemination of digitalized geological mapping techniques in order to improve mapping efficiency. The courses will be delivered in English.
The training course is funded by Ministry of Finance and Asian Regional Cooperation Fund, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and included in the “ASEAN + 3”framework for the promotion of cooperation with ASEAN countries. Cooperation will be extended to more areas apart from geological survey.
