Dr.Li Pengde re-elected as the Co-chair of UN-GGIM

 The eighth session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) was held from 1 - 3 August 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Led by Dr. Li Pengde, deputy director of China Geological Survey, Chinese delegation were present at the conference. 

The session was attended by a total of 427 participants, 316 delegates from 88 Member States and 2 non-Member States - principally at the level of Heads of agencies and senior executives responsible for national geospatial information management, and the rest from 69 observer organizations (UN system, international organization, non-governmental organization, academia and private sector). Dr. Li Pengde, together with heads from state surveying bureaus of Holland and Cameroon  were elected as the Co-chair of UN-GGIM. 

During the meeting, Chinese delegation held Publicity and promotion conference for the upcoming UN World Conference on Geographic Information to be held in China. 

UN-GGIM seeks to promote international collaboration in global geospatial information management, and as the relevant body on geospatial information management in the United Nations, to report on all matters relating to geography, geospatial information and related topics to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
