Delegation of China Geological Survey Visited the US and Canada

On February 26, president of China Geological Survey (CGS) Zhong Ziran kicked off a visit to the US and Canada.The delegation visited the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and attended Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) meeting in Canada as well as China-Canada Mining Investment Forum jointly sponsored by MLR and its Canadian counterpart Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the 17th bilateral meeting. Zhong Ziran delivered his speech at the forum on behalf of MLR and put forward suggestions in view of Canada’s investment environment. He met with minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Quebec , Canada and both sides conducted exchanges in the field of the global mining.
 

Focusing on the demand-oriented and problem-driven development, Zhong Ziran and USGS director Suzette Kimball conducted a strategic dialogue. The exchanges covered such points as survey plan, the organization and implementation of geological survey and results assessment. Both sides agreed that as the world's two most important geological survey organizations, CGS and USGS have built solid basis for cooperation and should play more important roles in the world. Consensus was also achieved in further expanding and deepening cooperation and agreement was signed for strategic cooperation.

Zhong Ziran addressed Canada & China Investment Forum at PDAC, and held meetings with officials from NRCan and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Quebec. Opinions and suggestions were made concerning the major problems encountered by enterprises when making investment in Canada.

Zhong Ziran also conducted exchanges with USGS and NRCan in the field of North America shale-gas exploration and development. Meanwhile he visited Alberta Energy Authority core library, Sinopec Overseas Investment Corp, China Gold, etc.
