2013 Top 10 Geological Survey Progresses

Top5. Major breakthroughs in the copper ore prospecting in Duolong, Tibet

Updated :03,04,2014

Mineral prospect survey, IP intermediate gradient survey and IP sounding were carried out in Duolong, which greatly consolidated the fundamental and public geological work. Research efforts were made with respect to geological background, metallogenic law, deposit genesis and on new theories, new techniques and new methods. Drilling verification was implemented, resulting in the discovery of Naro and South Tegelong Copper (Gold) Deposits and the successful delineation of Longrong-North Qobugbu Mineralization Concentrated Region, exhibiting good ore-prospecting potential. These have induced and driven commercial-scale exploration investment of more than 320 million yuan, which greatly expedited the exploration and contributed to major ore-prospecting breakthroughs.
As of the end of 2013, the accumulated resource obtained in Duolong, Tibet was Cu 16.24 million tons, associated Au 481 tons and Ag 1393 tons. In 2013 alone, the accumulated new resource was Cu (332+333) 6.5 million tons, associated Au 103 tons and Ag 1115 tons, marking another major through in the nation's ore-prospecting effort. The major breakthrough of Duolong copper deposit further establishes the position of the Bangong Lake - Nujiang River important metallogenic zone and provides resources bases for the construction of the Tibetan copper metropolis. Its development and utilization will effectively alleviate the insufficiency of copper resources in China, substantially change the copper resources supply situation and enhance the rapid and harmonious economic and social development of the region.
