CGS Enhanced Geological Cooperation with Austria and Czech

The delegation headed by the deputy director of China Geological Survey Mr Wang Xuelong paid a visit to Austria and Czech at the invitation of Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Czech Geological Survey. During the meeting, the protocol on “Risk Modeling and Mapping of Loess Landslide in Tianshui District, China” was signed, and the talk was conducted to know better of Czech Geological Survey and establish cooperative relations.

As early as 2013, China Geological Survey and Austrian Institute of Technology have signed the MoU on cooperation in geology. The parties agreed to conduct research on landslide hazard monitoring. According to the agreement signed this time, Tianshui district in Gansu province in China and two states in Austria have been located as the research areas. The Austrian side has conducted a field trip in Tianshui in August, 2014. China Geological survey will send experts to Austria for field work in July this year.

The delegation of China Geological Survey held talks with the director of Czech Geological Survey. The both parties reached intent of cooperation in treatment of pollution generated by uranium development and the monitoring & controlling of geo-hazards.

The technological counselor of Chinese embassy in Austria participated in the meeting and protocol signing ceremony.
