On January 15, the 2016 National Geological Survey Conference was held in Beijing. Its main tasks are to implement the guiding principles of the fifth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, the Central Economic Work Conference, the Urban Work Conference, the Rural Work Conference and the Poverty Reduction and Development Work Conference, implement the conclusions of the 2016 National Land and Resources Work Conference, summarize the geological survey work in the "12th Five-Year Plan" period and make plans for priority tasks in the "13th Five-Year Plan" period and in 2016. Jiang Daming, Minister of Land and Resources attended the meeting. Zhong Ziran, President of China Geological Survey attended and delivered a speech at the meeting.

　　In his speech, Zhong Ziran stressed that efforts should be made to implement a series of new requirements on geological survey work proposed by the Leading Party Members' Group of Ministry of Land and Resources, and ten priority tasks on geological survey in 2016. Geoscientific and technological innovation was put as top priority of CGS in 2016. With a view to depending on, guiding, supporting and serving the "Nine Plans, 50 Programs and 300 plus sub- programs ", measures should be taken to solve five pressing problems and major resource-related, environmental and geoscientific problems through implementation of the Guiding Opinions of the Leading Party Members' Group of CGS on Promoting Geoscientific and Technological Innovation (which will be issued soon). Great efforts should be made to step up the cooperation with domestic organizations and departments as the State Oceanic Administration, the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geo-information and the Gold Mining Force of the Chinese People's Armed Police through enhancement of coordinated mechanisms for central and local geological survey work, improvement of geological information service mechanisms and promotion of a new mechanism combining enterprises, universities and institutes. It is also important to boost geologists' creativity and competence with the practice of core values of geologists in the new era, that is “Responsibility, Innovation, Cooperation, Contribution and Rectitude” .
